Boromir's coming in as an Arda Marred CRAU, meaning he was most recently in a broken and arbitrarily-changing version of his own world. For more information, see his infopost here!

Gem: Cryolite
Weapon: His longsword
Power: In addition to the sword, he can summon the Horn of Gondor to him - it is audible at full volume for an astounding distance, and the sound of it is paralyzing in a "literally earth-shaking, rattles every bone, makes one's brain feel like it is being shaken loose" kind of way. Possible to fight through, not easy to fight through (though Boromir can't fight and use the horn at the same time!).

Feel free to PM me with any questions!

Character
Name: Boromir, son of Denethor; heir to the stewardship of Gondor.
Canon: The Fellowship of the Ring - all history and lore from the books, but with personality drawn with heavier influence from the film.
Pull-point: Within a few days before the Council of Elrond. Some months before, he and Faramir had shared a dream about the formation of the Fellowship and the discovery of the Ring. Boromir was sent, in place of Faramir, to find the place named in the dream and learn what it meant, and whether the information could be used to help Gondor in its war against Mordor. He'll be taken from very shortly before he is pursued to Rivendell and joins the Council, having been on the road some three months already.

Permissions post link: N/A. My one hard line is that I'd prefer if Boromir weren't told about the exact circumstances of his death. We can totally talk out how best to go about this, but I'd prefer his knowledge of that, if he gets it, to be part of something longer-running and not something he has to deal with right off the bat.

Opt-out post link: N/A; I can't think of any trigger that might apply to Boromir specifically, but if at any point you have trouble with specific subject matter that might come up over the course of CR, please let me know and we'll figure out a workaround.

Age: 40 years old; appears slightly younger, because Men are a little longer-lived in Middle-earth.

Gender/Sex: Male.

Appearance: Described as “a tall man, with a fair and noble face, dark-haired and grey-eyed, proud and stern of glance.” Alternately: Sean Bean.

History: Boromir is the oldest son of Denethor II, the Steward of Gondor. His mother died when he was ten years old. He has always been very close to his younger brother, Faramir, though of the two of them only Boromir has ever found any favor with their father. For most of his adult life he has been defending the South from the encroach of Sauron’s forces; he is well-renowned in Gondor (and Rohan as well) for his skill as a leader of men. Three months or so before coming to Arda Marred he undertook a mission to seek the Ring in Rivendell, and had been traveling alone since then.

Personality: Boromir is proud, straightforward, and loyal. He’ll react strongly to a perceived insult, and he doesn’t dissemble or hide his feelings if he feels he has no reason to be ashamed of them. He puts a lot of faith in solid leadership, and is neither ambitious nor petty – he’ll abide by a decision he disagrees with, rather than jeopardize a mission (though he will not hesitate to make his opinion about the correct decision known). He can be reckless and stubborn, more likely to risk defeat than sue for peace or attempt a retreat; once he has made up his mind, he is not easily swayed. His interests lie with Gondor and its defense, and most other things are secondary. Between him and his brother, he’s more interested in military matters than academic ones, and is in general more practically-minded.

He differs from his book counterpart in that he suspects that Denethor’s hold on control is not as strong as it used to be; he is traveling not only to seek aid for Gondor, but to assuage his own uncertainties, and his growing fear about the fate of his country. Later in canon, the Ring capitalizes on his doubts and fears for Gondor to bring out suspicion, guilt, and power-hunger in him; but Boromir at this point in canon does not yet know the Ring has been found.

Abilities: Has no magical ability at all, but is regarded as strong among Men, as well as a skilled hunter and fighter. High CHA and CON, low WIS, skill points in wilderness survival, tracking, weapon class: swords.

Inventory: He has the unwashed and weatherstained clothes on his back, his sword, and the Horn of Gondor.

Anything else: N/A – will be updated as necessary!
